Day 1 – Introduction to monotype. Using an etching press you will be shown a variety of techniques to create one-off monotype
prints. A monotype is a unique printmaking process where you can make a single print by painting or drawing on a smooth,
non-absorbent surface like glass or metal, and then transferring the image to paper.

Day 2 – Printmaking with tetrapaks. Building on the experience of day 1, you will have the opportunity to explore interesting
textures, shapes and tone using repurposed tetrapak cartons as a plate for printmaking. The shiny surface of a flattened
tetrapak is scored with tools to create lines that hold ink, creating intaglio-style prints. No previous experience needed.
Participants can bring their own photographs and sketchbook with ideas for high contrast monochrome images. Bring an apron,
as you will get inky, and any tetrapak cartons – I will also provide these. Extra paper will be available to purchase on the day.
